Backend Engineer at Hyperliquid Labs

We are excited to invite a talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in Singapore. At Hyperliquid, we are building the Hyperliquid L1 to power the future of global finance. Our engineering team sits at the heart of our decision-making process, and we offer significant upside for those who help us scale. Because we value deep collaboration and rapid iteration, we have a strong preference for working together in our office on a full-time, on-site basis.

What you'll be doing

• You will design, implement, and optimize our consensus algorithm, database architecture, and trading APIs to support a decentralized onchain order book capable of handling hundreds of thousands of transactions every second.
• You will build out essential financial and trading primitives directly on the Hyperliquid L1.
• You will work closely with our product, design, and frontend teams to ship impactful new features for our users.

What you'll bring

• You possess strong systems engineering skills and have experience writing modular, maintainable code in complex environments where correctness is non-negotiable.
• You have a genuine interest in performance optimization and are a strong first-principles thinker.
• You have professional experience with Rust.
• You demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and clear communication skills.
• You bring a high level of programming proficiency, ideally supported by experience in competitive programming environments like Codeforces, IOI, or ACM-ICPC.
• If you have experience with HFT systems, that is considered a significant bonus.
• You are fluent in English.
