The role

We are seeking a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid role, requiring you to be on-site at our Princeton, New Jersey office two days a week, specifically on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You will be instrumental in designing and enhancing the backend services that power our core application, ensuring that our infrastructure remains secure, performant, and ready to support our growing user base.

Core responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain robust backend services that scale effectively to meet user demand.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and mobile engineers to deliver a seamless and high-quality product experience.
• Balance the need for rapid development with the importance of following software best practices to ensure long-term reliability.

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you should have 3 to 5 years of experience managing complex web-based applications. We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:

• Expertise in Java and Kotlin, along with deep experience using the Spring framework.
• A strong grasp of building scalable systems and a pragmatic approach to selecting the right technologies for the task at hand.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members.
• A collaborative spirit, a passion for peer learning, and a strong sense of ownership over your code and its impact.

Compensation and benefits
