Kalshi is the first federally regulated exchange that allows people to trade on real-world events. Much like the NYSE, we provide a platform for trading, but instead of stocks, our users engage with event contracts covering topics like politics, economics, weather, and technology. Having secured historic regulatory approval from the CFTC, we are now building the next generation of financial infrastructure. We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid role that offers the opportunity to help us scale a new asset class while working on critical systems that define the future of our financial ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-performance order matching engines, trade execution algorithms, and robust trading APIs.
- Design and implement reliable clearing systems, including collateral management, margining, and essential banking integrations.
- Lead technical integrations with external partners such as hedge funds, brokers, and market makers to ensure seamless connectivity.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale projects and solve complex technical challenges with long-term impact.
- Deep understanding of relational databases, transaction management, and highly concurrent system design.
- A strong track record of improving engineering efficiency through the creation of new tools and processes.
- Excellent judgment regarding task prioritization and a high-speed, high-quality approach to shipping code.
