Drivemode is a California-based division of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. We operate as a dedicated team of software innovators focused on helping Honda remain competitive within the electric vehicle market. Our work centers on building high-quality mobile application experiences that redefine how drivers interact with their vehicles. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our full-time, hybrid team in the United States to help us invent the future of automotive technology.

Key outcomes

Design and implement robust backend service solutions, which includes selecting cloud infrastructure, establishing monitoring systems, and managing integrations with various third-party APIs.
Collaborate closely with senior engineers, mobile developers, and software architects to ensure our services provide a seamless experience for Honda drivers.
Proactively troubleshoot production issues and manage the development and deployment of necessary hot fixes.
Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of our CI/CD pipeline infrastructure.

Requirements

At least 3 years of professional experience shipping production code using statically-typed languages such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, C++, or Rust.
A proven track record of developing and delivering performant API integrations.
Hands-on experience working with major cloud providers like GCP or AWS.
An entrepreneurial mindset and the flexibility to step outside of your primary responsibilities to learn new technologies and solve diverse challenges.
Professional proficiency in English.

Preferred qualifications

Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, specifically Terraform.
Fluency in Japanese.
