At Mirror, we are dedicated to building beautiful, intuitive, and web3-native products that empower creative communities. Our team is small, passionate, and deeply experienced, having spent years developing within the web3 space. We are currently expanding our presence in New York City to launch a new social product, and we are proud to be backed by industry-leading investors such as a16z Crypto, Union Square Ventures, Variant, and Electric Capital.
The role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid role, and you will need to be available to work in-person at our New York City office. We are seeking someone with a proven history of shipping high-quality software who thrives in ambiguous environments and enjoys collaborating with a team to refine engineering practices.
Core responsibilities
- Design, build, and deliver on our product roadmap while evaluating whether to leverage third-party APIs or develop custom in-house solutions.
- Collaborate closely with our frontend engineers to construct robust products on top of our GraphQL API.
- Create, maintain, and monitor backend services, ensuring our infrastructure is reliable and well-tested.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- At least 4 years of experience writing production-grade software, ideally with exposure to the web3 ecosystem.
- A strong background in building and maintaining systems at scale.
- Proficiency with TypeScript, Node, and AWS.
- A proactive mindset for proposing technical solutions and a commitment to improving DevOps workflows for the entire team.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Posthog, NewRelic, or ElasticSearch is considered a significant asset.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $250,000, depending on your experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- Equity compensation through competitive stock option grants.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 80% of premiums covered by the company.
- Access to a 401(k) plan, along with flexible spending and health savings accounts.
- Life insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability insurance.
- Flexible paid time off and three months of paid baby bonding leave.
- Reimbursements for your laptop, home office setup, and monthly internet and cell phone expenses.
- Regular team offsites to facilitate collaborative strategy and in-person work sessions.
How to apply
If you are a self-starter who is passionate about web3 and eager to contribute to a supportive, growth-oriented team, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to be considered for this opportunity.
