Backend Engineer at Fampay

Fam is the pioneer behind India's first payments application designed for individuals aged 11 and older. Our mission is to empower the next generation by fostering financial literacy and enabling millions of young users to begin their financial journeys early. Since our founding in 2019 by IIT Roorkee alumni, we have grown to support over 6 million users with our FamX spending account, which integrates UPI and card payments into a seamless experience. We are backed by world-class investors, including Elevation Capital, Y-Combinator, and Peak XV, and we are currently seeking a Backend Engineer to join our on-site team in India to help us build resilient, secure, and innovative financial infrastructure.

Key outcomes

• Develop, test, and deploy robust applications to our production servers.
• Write clean, maintainable code and ensure all technical work is thoroughly documented.
• Participate in our on-call rotation to triage and resolve reliability issues as they arise.
• Research and implement new technologies and frameworks to improve our development efficiency.
• Take full ownership of high-impact projects that directly influence our user experience.

Requirements

• Between 1 and 4 years of professional experience in building complex server-side components.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python or Golang.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
• A B.Tech degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Practical experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, though familiarity with Azure or Google Cloud is also valuable.
• Comfortable working within a Unix command line environment.
