The opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in India on a full-time, hybrid basis. In this role, you will serve as a critical member of our engineering organization, acting as the foundation for our cloud-native product. You will help bridge the gap between open-source innovation and enterprise-grade reliability, contributing directly to the growth of Apache Hudi while building the distributed systems that power our multi-region microservices. This is an opportunity to take full ownership of complex technical challenges and help us scale our platform to meet the needs of global enterprises.

A day in the life

• Collaborate with your teammates to design and implement new APIs, database abstractions, and caching services that support our user-facing products and infrastructure monitoring systems.
• Take complete ownership of product features, guiding them through the entire lifecycle from initial concept and design to final implementation and deployment.
• Maintain a high engineering standard by focusing on high availability and scalability, while proactively identifying failure patterns and implementing robust remediations.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer with at least 6 years of experience in backend development, specifically with microservices in distributed environments. You possess a deep technical toolkit and a proactive mindset. Your background includes:

• Strong proficiency in Java, Kubernetes, and gRPC.
• Proven experience deploying and managing applications on major global cloud platforms.
• A track record of operational excellence, including expertise in monitoring, testing, and deployment strategies.
• Excellent communication skills in English, allowing you to collaborate effectively across our distributed team.
• A self-driven nature that allows you to balance rapid feature development with the necessary management of technical debt.
