At Memfault, we are building the first reliability platform for the IoT industry. Our tools empower hardware teams at companies like Bose, Lyft, and Logitech to monitor performance and debug devices with the same speed as modern software organizations. We are a team of experienced engineers, including former principal architects from major tech firms, and we are looking for a Senior Backend Systems/Data Engineer to help us scale our infrastructure to support millions of devices. What you'll be doing

Architect and maintain distributed systems and storage infrastructure designed to handle data from tens of millions of connected devices.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure our platform can scale to ten times its current capacity.
Partner with colleagues across the company to translate complex business requirements into pragmatic, effective technical solutions.

What you'll bring

We are looking for a senior-level engineer who is comfortable working in a hybrid environment and is fluent in English. You should have at least five years of experience building scalable, highly available distributed systems. Your technical toolkit should include:

Strong proficiency in Python development.
Expertise in writing, debugging, and optimizing SQL.
Experience designing multi-tenant database architectures using tools like PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Redis.
Familiarity with Node.js, TypeScript, React, RabbitMQ, and AWS.
A deep commitment to software testing and a genuine curiosity about hardware and embedded systems.

What you'll get

For candidates based in our Boston location, the salary range for this full-time role is $70,000 to $180,000, though final compensation is determined by your specific location and experience. Beyond your salary, you will receive:
