Backend Engineer III at Alma

Recognized as one of Inc’s Best Workplaces in 2022 and 2023, we are looking for a mission-driven Backend Engineer III to join our remote-first team. In this role, you will help define our architecture and build features that directly solve real-world challenges for mental health providers.

Key outcomes

• Develop a deep understanding of our members' operations and identify key pain points to address through software.
• Design and implement scalable, maintainable product features using modern web technologies.
• Build and improve both internal and member-facing tools for scheduling, billing, client management, and onboarding.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to conceptualize and deliver practical solutions.
• Maintain high standards for performance, security, and scalability across all our services.

Requirements

• Three to five years of engineering experience with a proven track record of building products at scale.
• Extensive experience with web development and common web frameworks.
• Proficiency in Golang and a strong understanding of backend systems.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and security compliance requirements.
• Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
• Strong familiarity with version control tools like Git.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
• A data-driven mindset and a willingness to experiment and iterate based on research.
• Fluency in English.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000 USD. We are committed to pay equity and typically bring new hires in near the middle of our salary bands. Our benefits package includes:
