At Blitz.gg, we are building the ultimate gaming experience for millions of users worldwide. As a fast-growing startup, we pride ourselves on our performance-driven culture and our ability to solve complex technical challenges at scale. Our backend systems currently process tens of terabytes of data daily, handling over 500,000 database operations every second. We are looking for passionate, autonomous engineers who thrive in a collaborative environment to help us expand our platform to new games and continue scaling our infrastructure.
The role
We are seeking a Backend Engineer II to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a mid-level position designed for someone who is ready to take ownership of critical systems. While we operate with a hybrid work model, we prefer team members to be on-site in our Los Angeles office from Monday through Thursday. If you are applying for a remote role, you must be available to work during Pacific Time Zone business hours.
Core responsibilities
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code that supports our high-traffic gaming platform.
- Identify and resolve technical roadblocks while proactively communicating status updates to the team.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues across our development, testing, and production environments to ensure maximum system availability.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong foundation in our core technology stack and a desire to work on large-scale distributed systems. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience working with Elixir.
- 1 to 2 years of experience building with Phoenix, LiveView, Oban, and GenStage.
- 1 to 2 years of experience managing data with Postgres, Riak, and Redis.
- Proficiency with version control and CI/CD workflows using Git, GitHub, and CircleCI.
- Bonus points if you have experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Sentry.
Compensation and benefits
We believe in rewarding our team members for their hard work and dedication. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 USD, plus a bonus. In addition to competitive pay, we offer:
- Unlimited vacation policy to help you recharge.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% of premiums covered for employees based in California.
- 401(k) matching program.
- A collaborative, hybrid work environment supported by regular team-building events.
How to apply
If you are a motivated engineer who loves gaming and wants to build software that reaches millions of active users, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to join our team and help us shape the future of the gaming industry.
