Backend Engineer, Experimentation at LaunchDarkly

We are currently looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our team and help us evolve our experimentation product into a tool that is both powerful for data scientists and intuitive for new users.

Key outcomes

• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend solutions using Go.
• Lead architectural decisions that prioritize long-term system maintainability and performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to deliver significant, business-critical features.
• Drive engineering excellence by enforcing high code quality standards and improving service observability.
• Mentor fellow engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical growth.
• Proactively identify and resolve system bottlenecks while ensuring our experimentation platform remains robust and reliable.
• Engage with customers and support teams to diagnose production issues and ensure a seamless user experience.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional software development experience, specifically within backend environments.
• Strong proficiency in Go and extensive experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of experimentation methodologies, such as A/B and multivariate testing.
• Proven track record of leading the development of scalable systems from initial design to production.
• Expertise in performance tuning, observability, and monitoring practices.
• Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and mentor team members in a distributed environment.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Agile development methodologies.
• A proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Preferred qualifications

• Prior experience working with cloud platforms like AWS.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $159,000 to $224,000, depending on your specific location and experience. In addition to base pay, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
