About the Role
We are seeking a Backend Engineer for our Enterprise Success team. This is a full-time, mid-level position where you will act as an individual contributor. You will be responsible for designing, coding, and operating high-performance data processing systems and backend services. Working primarily on the JVM platform with Scala, you will contribute to our phone call processing pipeline and customer-facing web applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the systems your team develops, including active participation in deployment, operations, and on-call rotations.
- Design and build robust backend services while maintaining a philosophy of continuous iteration and improvement.
- Collaborate closely with both local and remote team members to provide solutions that prioritize our customers' needs.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong technical foundation and a collaborative mindset. We value transferable skills, so we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every single qualification.
- A BSc or M.S. degree in a relevant field, combined with at least 2 to 3 years of professional experience.
- Proficiency or a strong interest in functional programming within a typed setting.
- Experience with data storage and processing systems, such as PostgreSQL, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift, or Apache Spark.
- Familiarity with Unix environments and excellent communication skills in both English and Hungarian.
- A fast start is likely if you have hands-on experience with Scala, AWS, Kubernetes, and SQL.
Location
This position is based in Budapest, Hungary. We operate on a hybrid work model, which requires you to be in the office 8 days per month.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your personal and professional well-being:
- Flexible hybrid work arrangements.
- Private health care through Generali and a private retirement pension program.
- An annual professional development fund of $1,000 and access to online English classes.
- A WFH equipment stipend and a gym membership.
- Donation matching for a charity of your choice, up to $500 per year.
