Backend Engineer (Data) at Osmosis

We are Osmosis, the premier interchain decentralized exchange within the Cosmos ecosystem. We are dedicated to building an open, accessible, and user-driven financial future, and we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help us scale our data infrastructure and drive the next wave of DeFi innovation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data-intensive microservices from the ground up.
• Develop and manage robust data pipelines that extract and process information directly from the blockchain.
• Create secure, scalable API services to support our product requirements.
• Implement real-time streaming systems to react to live blockchain events.
• Optimize code paths and benchmark systems to ensure high availability and low latency.
• Troubleshoot complex, multi-threaded issues within our geo-distributed production environments.
• Build observability tools to monitor, analyze, and report on key protocol metrics.

Must-haves

• At least 4 years of professional experience building data-intensive applications.
• Strong proficiency in Go, Python, or Rust.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and how to operate them at scale.
• Extensive experience working with both relational and non-relational databases.
• A solid grasp of backend and data engineering best practices, including algorithms and data structures.
• Proven ability to debug live production environments and optimize performance.
• A genuine passion for blockchain technology and the decentralized finance space.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience working on high-scale data systems in DeFi or traditional finance.
• A track record of leading projects from initial concept through to production deployment.
• Familiarity with the Cosmos SDK stack.
• A history of contributing to open-source data projects.
• Experience thriving in remote, globally distributed engineering teams.
