Backend Engineer, Data Products at Index Exchange

The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team as a full-time employee. This is an on-site role where you will play a critical part in building and maintaining the data products that power our exchange. You will have significant autonomy to manage systems and contribute to high-level architectural decisions, ensuring our platforms remain performant and reliable as we continue to grow.

Core responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test robust, scalable code for programmatic ad tech systems that handle massive daily transaction volumes.
• Collaborate closely with product teams to deeply understand our domain and identify meaningful opportunities for platform improvements.
• Promote engineering excellence by suggesting and implementing improvements to our coding standards, testing practices, and overall software architecture.

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you should bring a strong foundation in backend development and a passion for high-performance systems. We require the following qualifications:

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a backend software engineer.
• Proven experience working with data products, specifically data APIs and reporting tools.
• Comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end web application development, including architecting, debugging, refactoring, and deploying microservices.
• Proficiency in Golang is highly preferred, though we welcome applications from engineers with strong expertise in other backend technologies who are eager to learn.
• A solid grasp of computer science fundamentals, such as algorithms, design patterns, and software architecture.
• Experience with automated testing platforms and a commitment to writing maintainable, performant code.
