The opportunity
We are seeking a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to join our Content and Metadata team. This role is central to the FT Core department, where you will help build the next generation of APIs and services that power our digital publishing platform. You will be instrumental in rethinking our content architecture, ensuring that our journalism reaches our audience with speed and precision. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bulgaria, offering you the chance to work on high-impact projects that reach millions of readers every day.
A day in the life
- You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance microservices, ensuring our code remains clean, reusable, and reliable.
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and ship new features while optimizing our cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- You will work closely with various database technologies, including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Neo4j, to design efficient data models and solve complex technical bottlenecks.
Who you are
You are a motivated software developer with at least 2 years of experience in backend systems. You have a strong foundation in microservices architecture and containerization, and you are comfortable working in a cloud-native environment. While we value experience with our specific stack, including Go, Kubernetes, Kafka, and Elasticsearch, we are primarily looking for someone with a sharp problem-solving mindset and a desire to learn. You communicate effectively in English and enjoy working in a collaborative, agile setting where your technical contributions directly influence the quality of our digital content.
