Backend Engineer, AI at LaunchDarkly

The role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our AI team in a full-time, hybrid capacity. This is a high-impact position where you will help us build a 0 to 1 product from the ground up. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining the backend systems that power our AI feature set, working closely with our product and design teams to solve complex technical problems in this rapidly evolving space.

Core responsibilities

• Design and optimize scalable backend infrastructure to support the integration and deployment of AI models and services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define technical solutions that address the specific needs of AI development, including metrics visualization and monitoring.
• Maintain high standards for system performance and reliability while driving innovation in how we integrate AI technologies into production environments.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in distributed systems and a passion for building high-quality software. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• Extensive professional experience with server-side languages such as Java, Scala, Python, or Go.
• Proven expertise in designing and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience working with AI technologies, including LLMs and integrations with providers like OpenAI or AWS Bedrock.
• A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, concurrency, and threading.
• The ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.

Compensation and benefits

We believe in transparency and trust, which is why we provide a clear pay range for this position. The salary for this role is between $142,000 and $209,000, depending on your specific location and experience. In addition to your salary, you will receive:
