About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Access Control Systems team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will help shape our long-term vision for managing access control, working at the intersection of product features and large-scale vendor integrations. You will tackle complex challenges ranging from performance optimization and infrastructure scaling to improving our internal developer experience through a robust integration SDK.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and launch new services that enhance the safety, reliability, and precision of our access control systems.
- Evaluate and refine our current methods for managing access control to ensure they meet modern standards.
- Partner closely with your team to brainstorm solutions and drive the delivery of high-value features from initial design to final implementation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- A Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Proven experience building and maintaining APIs, including REST, GraphQL, and JSON/HTTP.
- Proficiency in TypeScript or Kotlin, with a track record of debugging and maintaining production-grade code.
- Strong technical knowledge of message queues, auto-scaling, sharding, and complex access patterns.
- A product-focused mindset with the ability to plan for high-quality, scalable technical foundations.
Location
This is a hybrid position based in the United States. You will be expected to work from our San Francisco headquarters at least 3 days per week, specifically Tuesday through Thursday.
Compensation and Benefits
For candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area, the annual salary range for this position is $170,000 to $200,000.
