Backend Developer at ZoomProp

Zoomprop is a seed-funded startup building the definitive real estate investment data platform, serving as the industry's answer to the Bloomberg Terminal. Our leadership team brings deep expertise from companies like eBay, Pandora, and MLB, and we are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help us scale our infrastructure and deliver high-quality data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust back-end systems for our web applications.
• Develop secure and scalable APIs while collaborating with C-level executives and the front-end team to align with user interface requirements.
• Manage our AWS infrastructure, including RDS databases, EC2 instances, and S3 storage.
• Implement serverless functions using AWS Lambda and API Gateway.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and stay current with emerging back-end and cloud technologies.

Must-haves

• At least 3 years of professional experience in back-end development, specifically focusing on API design and AWS infrastructure.
• A degree in a STEM field.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, particularly with Postgres.
• Deep experience with AWS services like Lambda, RDS, and CloudFormation CDK.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, data modeling, database design, and object-oriented programming.
• Ability to write clean, modular, and well-documented code while working independently.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with data pipelining, specifically using Dagster.
• Knowledge of data science disciplines, including NLP, time series forecasting, and predictive modeling.
• Familiarity with web scraping and data extraction techniques.
• Experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
