The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our team and act as a key architect for the engine that powers our platform. You will be responsible for building and scaling the infrastructure that handles high-load, distributed systems. This is a high-impact role where you will work on everything from our modern checkout experience to complex analytics pipelines. You will be instrumental in ensuring our architecture remains performant, reliable, and secure as we continue to serve nonprofits across the globe.

A day in the life

• Design and implement scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript to support our growing product ecosystem.
• Collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to take new features from initial concept to full deployment.
• Take ownership of critical architectural decisions, including optimizing our use of MongoDB, Kafka, and ClickHouse to maintain system efficiency.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer with at least 5 years of experience in product-driven environments. You have a deep understanding of clean architecture and are comfortable working in a distributed, event-driven system. Because our team is highly collaborative and international, you must be comfortable working within a Russian-speaking environment while maintaining professional proficiency in English.

Your technical toolkit should include:

• Advanced expertise in Node.js frameworks like Koa or NestJS.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and its module systems.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases, specifically MongoDB.
• Familiarity with high-throughput messaging tools like Kafka and background processing with Redis.
• Experience with Elasticsearch and analytics databases such as ClickHouse.
• A proactive mindset toward using AI as a standard tool to enhance your daily workflow and problem-solving capabilities.
