At Octopus Energy for Business and Octopus Energy Generation, we are dedicated to helping UK companies transition to net zero while managing a global portfolio of renewable energy assets worth over £6 billion. We are looking for a mid-level Backend Developer to join our team in a full-time, hybrid capacity to help build the next generation of our energy products.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the backend service that manages our innovative product suite for large-scale business clients.
- Collaborate closely with our commercial and data teams to influence the growth and architecture of our backend systems.
- Work on diverse innovation projects that offer a startup-like environment within our rapidly scaling EnTech business.
- Develop robust, fault-tolerant software that meets the evolving needs of our customers.
- Engage in team discussions to propose creative solutions and define product features.
Must-haves
- At least 2 years of professional experience working within the Python ecosystem.
- Proven experience building backend web services for mobile or web applications using Django.
- Proficiency with Git for version control.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment workflows.
- A strong desire to learn, grow, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Practical knowledge of GraphQL APIs.
- Prior experience working on financial systems.
