Backend Developer IAM and API Gateway at Scaleway

We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our team at Scaleway. Our mission is to build and maintain the core infrastructure that secures our cloud ecosystem, specifically focusing on our Identity and Access Management (IAM) product and our internal API Gateway. Our IAM service is vital for managing human and machine access, currently handling over 7,000 requests per second with precise policy controls. Meanwhile, our API Gateway acts as the central hub for our internal and public API traffic, managing routing, rate limiting, and authentication across our regions and zones.

Key outcomes

• Design, implement, and support new features across our managed services.
• Produce code that is clean, consistent, and backed by robust automated testing.
• Proactively manage and reduce technical debt within our systems.
• Conduct thorough peer reviews on all merge requests to maintain high standards.
• Engage fully in our agile processes, including daily stand-ups and team retrospectives.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional experience in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in writing well-tested, reliable code.
• Deep understanding of the HTTP protocol and REST API design.
• Experience navigating and contributing to large, complex codebases.
• Solid background in SQL and database management.
• Professional proficiency in both French and English.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, AlertManager, or OpenSearch.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Ansible.
• A strong desire to learn and grow your technical skills every day.

Preferred qualifications

• Proven expertise in Golang.
• Practical experience working with distributed microservices architectures.
• Technical knowledge of gRPC and Protobuf.
• Advanced skills in SQL query optimization and transaction management.

Compensation

This position is offered on a full-time basis and is available as a hybrid role in our Paris or Lille offices. We provide a collaborative environment where we value pair programming, automated testing, and pragmatic problem-solving, all supported by a technical manager who is also a developer.
