Backend Architect at Cognism

Role at a glance

We are seeking an executive-level Backend Architect to join our team on a full-time, hybrid basis. This role is open to candidates located anywhere. You will report directly to the Director of Product Engineering and will be responsible for overseeing the technical architecture and development of our backend systems while leading a talented group of software engineers across multiple product teams.

Your impact

• Design and implement the overall technical architecture to ensure our systems align with business requirements.
• Lead and mentor software engineers in the deployment, maintenance, and evolution of our platform architecture.
• Collaborate with engineering managers to plan rollouts, manage development pipelines, and establish core architectural principles.

What you'll need

You should be a seasoned professional with a deep technical background and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering, with a master’s degree preferred.
• Over 15 years of experience in software development, specifically in architecting large-scale, distributed, cloud-enabled systems.
• At least 5 years of experience in executive or lead roles defining system architecture and managing engineering teams.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java and Scala, along with extensive experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud environments.
• Strong familiarity with CI/CD best practices, data management for large-scale applications, and agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both engineering teams and executive stakeholders.
