The opportunity

We are searching for a Senior Back-End Software Engineer to join our remote-first team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building the backend pipelines, services, and cloud infrastructure that power our forecasting systems. You will work in a fast-paced environment where you can turn ideas into prototypes and bring complex machine learning models into production. This is a chance to shape our technical culture and contribute to a product that is revolutionizing how we interact with weather data.

A day in the life

• You will collaborate closely with your teammates through daily pair programming to solve complex engineering challenges.
• You will design, develop, and deploy critical features, including data ingestion pipelines, machine learning inference services, APIs, and client libraries.
• You will prototype new technologies and automate internal tools or CI/CD pipelines to keep our development cycle moving quickly.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer with at least 5 years of experience and a proven ability to own projects from start to finish. You thrive when building from scratch and are comfortable navigating uncertain requirements with a hacker's spirit. You are highly proficient in Python and have a strong grasp of cloud infrastructure and IaC principles. While your core strength is back-end engineering, you have a keen interest in machine learning and are eager to apply your skills to large-scale production systems. You communicate clearly in English and are currently based in Cape Town, South Africa.
