Picket is a venture-backed real estate innovation company that is transforming the single-family rental market through our proprietary technology platform. We are looking for a Mid-Level Back-end Engineer to join our rapidly growing team and help us build solutions that improve the rental experience for both investors and residents.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with executives, real estate professionals, and fellow engineers to refine our product offerings.
- Build, support, and scale distributed RESTful APIs using Node.js.
- Design and maintain robust systems using Microservices Architecture.
- Manage data effectively using PostgreSQL and Redis.
- Implement clean code and design patterns while following industry best practices.
- Participate in the full CI lifecycle, including adherence to quality assurance standards.
- Leverage cloud infrastructure, such as AWS or GCP, to deploy and manage services.
Must-haves
- At least 2 years of professional experience with JavaScript.
- Deep proficiency in Node.js.
- Strong grasp of software architecture and design patterns.
- Proven experience with Microservices Architecture.
- Solid background in SQL databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with Redis and cloud services like AWS or GCP.
- Experience using source version control tools like GitHub or GitLab.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A self-motivated, organized, and customer-focused mindset.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with TypeScript.
- Proficiency in a second programming language, preferably Java or Kotlin.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
- Experience with asynchronous event processing, such as Apache Kafka or PubSub.
- Background in working with global teams or studying abroad.
