At Paytient, we believe that seeking medical care should never be a source of financial stress. Since our founding in 2018, we have partnered with nearly 2,000 employers and health plans to ensure that individuals can access the care they need without the burden of uncertainty. We are building a future where self-payment for healthcare is simple and accessible, and we are looking for passionate builders who want to help us turn that vision into a reality. If you are driven by the opportunity to make a tangible difference in people's lives while working at a high-growth, venture-backed FinTech startup, you will find a home here.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Back End Engineer to join our team and help us solve complex challenges in the healthcare space. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to craft software that is as elegant as it is functional. This is a full-time, remote role that allows you to contribute from anywhere in the continental U.S., excluding Montana. You will play a vital role in our technical evolution, ensuring our systems remain scalable and secure as we continue to grow.
A day in the life
- You will partner with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement new features that directly address the needs of our customers.
- You will take ownership of your work by participating in deployments, managing on-call rotations, and providing support for the systems you build.
- You will focus on developing scalable, testable, and secure applications while actively participating in technical discussions regarding architecture and system design.
Who you are
You are a mid-level engineer who is comfortable navigating the entire product development lifecycle. You bring a collaborative spirit and a desire to grow alongside your peers. To be successful in this role, you should have the following experience:
- Two to four years of experience working through the full product software development lifecycle.
- Strong proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
- A background in building microservices, service-oriented architectures, or distributed systems, ideally within a cloud environment like AWS.
- The ability to contribute meaningfully to high-level conversations about system design and technical architecture.
- Fluency in English.
Why you'll love it here
We are committed to supporting your health, your future, and your well-being. When you join our team, you gain access to a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to help you thrive both inside and outside of work.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- A 401k plan with a 4% employer match.
- Generous paid time off to ensure you have time to recharge.
- The opportunity to earn stock options in Paytient.
- The flexibility of a remote work environment.
