AWS DevOps Engineer at Skylight

Skylight is a digital consultancy dedicated to helping government agencies improve public services through modern design and technology. We are looking for a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to join our remote team and help us drive a vital civic movement that impacts families and patients across the country.

Responsibilities

• Architect, manage, and maintain cloud infrastructure within AWS, utilizing Infrastructure as Code to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Implement robust security and compliance controls while managing backup and recovery processes.
• Streamline development workflows by building efficient CI/CD pipelines and utilizing containerization tools like Docker.
• Monitor system health and performance, proactively troubleshooting issues to maintain operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders at the National Archives and Records Administration to support the secure transfer and storage of critical government records.
• Document configurations and processes while staying current with industry best practices.

Must-haves

• Extensive experience architecting and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS.
• Strong background in Infrastructure as Code and balancing performance with cost efficiency.
• Proficiency in configuring monitoring, logging, and security compliance within cloud environments.
• Solid understanding of networking, including VPC management and data migration strategies.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on collaborative problem-solving.
• Fluency in English.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a federal public trust clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Relevant AWS certifications, such as Solutions Architect Associate or Professional.
• Prior experience working with large-scale federal systems or records management projects.
• Familiarity with compliance standards like FedRAMP or NIST 800-53.
• Experience working in multi-cloud or hybrid environments.
• A background in civic tech or distributed team collaboration.

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $185,000 USD.
