Our mission is to provide hydration for the human race by developing advanced Active Hydration systems designed for those who push their limits. While our roots are in the high-stakes worlds of NASCAR, IndyCar, and professional trophy truck racing, we are now expanding our reach into new vertical markets, including critical work for the U.S. Military. We are currently looking for an expert to help us ensure our technology meets the rigorous demands of the aviation industry.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Aviation Product Safety Consultant to join us on a short-term contractor basis. This is a vital advisory position where you will evaluate a consumer electronic hydration system specifically designed for use with aviation helmets. You will work in a hybrid capacity to help us navigate complex safety standards and ensure our product is ready for the unique challenges of the aviation environment.
Core responsibilities
- Identify and analyze relevant safety standards, including FAA, TSA, UL, CE, and FCC requirements, to guide our development process.
- Conduct comprehensive hazard analyses and risk assessments to identify potential issues before they arise.
- Manage compliance for critical components like lithium-ion batteries and ensure all EMI/EMC standards are met through effective testing and documentation.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in product safety and compliance, particularly within consumer electronics or aviation. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Proven experience in product safety evaluation, specifically with lithium-ion battery safety and EMI/EMC standards.
- Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as UN 38.3, IEC 62133, and various international safety certifications.
- The ability to oversee safety testing protocols, including thermal performance, pressure changes, and drop testing.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, product safety, or a related technical field.
- Excellent documentation skills and the ability to translate complex technical findings into actionable advice for our design and engineering teams.
- Previous experience working as an independent consultant or in a 1099 advisory capacity.
- Proficiency in English is required.
Compensation and benefits
We offer a flexible hybrid work environment that allows you to collaborate effectively with our team while maintaining your independence as a consultant.
