Automation Systems Engineer at MachinaLabs

Welcome to Machina Labs. Founded in 2019 by veterans of the aerospace and automotive industries, we are a Los Angeles-based smart manufacturing company dedicated to building the software-defined factories of the future. By leveraging artificial intelligence and robotics, we are currently creating the first commercial robotic sheet metal forming machine. We are looking for an Automation Systems Engineer to join our growing team and help us develop modular manufacturing solutions that can be reconfigured through software to create entirely new products.

What you'll be doing

• You will architect, write, and debug PLC code, ensuring that your work is organized, well-documented, and reusable for our high-volume manufacturing needs.
• You will take charge of the design, integration, and troubleshooting of custom industrial robotic systems, including the development of new end-effectors, sensors, and novel manufacturing operations.
• You will manage the end-to-end process of purchasing and installing industrial robotic arms, integrating complex tooling, and developing closed-loop control software for our manufacturing cells.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you should be a proactive problem solver who thrives in fast-paced, iterative environments. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science.
• At least 2 years of extensive experience in industrial robotic programming and applications.
• Strong proficiency in PLC integration and structured text programming.
• Technical fluency in programming languages such as Python or C++.
• Proven ability to perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.

What you'll get

We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from $110,000 to $145,000, in addition to company equity. As an early member of our team, you will have a significant impact on our product direction and the future of our company.
