Role at a glance
We are seeking a Senior Atmospheric Engineer to join our machine learning team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on, individual contributor position where you will shape our weather modeling strategies and influence our core prediction systems. This role is based in the United States and operates under a hybrid work model, requiring you to be in the office for about half of your work week.
Your impact
- Research and develop our internal weather modeling capabilities by fine-tuning state-of-the-art AI models and recalibrating forecasts for our power prediction systems.
- Evaluate and integrate external weather products from providers like NOAA, while building and maintaining the data pipelines that keep our systems running.
- Optimize and monitor our AI weather models on GPU clusters and apply your expertise to broader time-series modeling challenges for energy price forecasting.
What you'll need
- A degree in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a similar quantitative field.
- Proven experience working with large meteorological datasets and atmospheric models, including both NWP and AI-based systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience using Machine Learning libraries.
- Comfort working within a Linux environment and managing code through Git.
- Experience running computational tasks in cloud computing environments or on high-performance clusters.
- The ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to team members across different disciplines.
