Associate Security Engineer at Oportun

We are currently looking for a full-time Associate Security Engineer to join our remote team. In this role, you will work within our Shift-Left Cyber organization to design and deploy custom automation products while ensuring our security systems remain robust and efficient. Responsibilities

• Design and implement security controls to ensure our cloud infrastructure and applications meet strict compliance benchmarks.
• Develop intelligent automation solutions to eliminate repetitive manual tasks and streamline daily security operations.
• Collaborate with developers and DevOps engineers to monitor system performance and proactively integrate security tools into our existing ecosystem.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who possess a strong passion for security, technology, and automation. You should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or at least one year of hands-on experience in cyber security and engineering.

• Proficiency in programming with Python or Go is required.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes.
• A solid understanding of internet security protocols, vulnerability management, and the OWASP Top 10.
• Experience delivering solutions at scale and working effectively with application development teams.
• Professional certifications such as Security+ are considered a plus.
