Key outcomes
- Provide 2nd line operational support for internal Middleware, DB2, and Oracle database systems within our 24/7 hosted environment.
- Participate in an on-call support rotation to ensure continuous availability and system health.
- Execute database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and the application of service packs.
- Collaborate with internal development teams and external vendors to investigate defects and implement effective solutions.
- Manage database failovers and actively participate in regular disaster recovery testing exercises.
- Ensure all database activities adhere to change management procedures and security policies.
- Maintain high service standards by prioritizing business-critical incidents and ensuring compliance with established SLAs.
- Contribute to the creation and review of operational documentation and process improvements.
- Provide peer leadership by mentoring team members and sharing technical expertise across the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience in production operational support for IBM DB2 (11.1/11.5) in an enterprise Linux or AIX environment.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle production DBA support.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery and high availability technologies, such as DB2 HADR, QREP, and Veritas Volume Replication.
- Proficiency in writing Korn or awk shell scripts for monitoring and maintenance.
- Demonstrated expertise in database performance tuning, including bufferpool management and index optimization.
- Familiarity with the ITIL framework, specifically regarding incident, problem, and change management.
- Experience working with ITSM ticketing systems like ServiceNow.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid, collaborative team environment.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior knowledge of banking systems and industry-standard financial practices.
- Relevant certifications, such as IBM DB2 certification or ITIL certification.
Compensation
The expected full-time salary range for this position is $135,000 to $150,000. In addition to the base salary, we offer variable compensation and a 401(k) match. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
