Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools is a network of free public charter schools dedicated to preparing students from PreK through 12th grade to excel in both college and life. Since our founding in 2009, we have grown from a single class of 96 students to serving over 1,950 students across multiple campuses in Memphis, Tennessee, and Birmingham, Alabama. We are currently looking for a dedicated Armed School Safety Officer to join our team starting July 14, 2025.

What you'll be doing

• You will provide comprehensive security and surveillance for our school campus, which includes patrolling parking lots and school grounds to maintain a safe environment.
• You will monitor students across various settings to ensure the safety and welfare of both the student body and our staff members.
• You will investigate and report suspicious activities, such as vandalism or theft, while working cooperatively with school administration and local law enforcement.

You should be a team player with a professional demeanor and the ability to build positive relationships within the school community. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a school setting as a safety, security, or police officer.
• A valid status as an armed security guard in the state of Alabama, which requires you to be at least 21 years of age and a United States citizen or resident alien.
• A record of good moral character and the ability to pass an FBI criminal history check via electronic fingerprinting.
• Reliable transportation to and from the school location.
• Proficiency in English.
