We are looking for a high-impact Architect to join our engineering leadership team in India on a full-time, on-site basis. Fam is the company behind India’s first payments app designed for users over the age of 11, and we are on a mission to drive financial awareness for 250 million young people across the country. Founded in 2019 by IIT Roorkee alumni and backed by world-class investors like Y-Combinator, Elevation Capital, and Peak XV, we provide a seamless platform for UPI and card payments. As our new Architect, you will play a pivotal role in defining our long-term technical vision, working directly with our founders and engineering leadership to build scalable, secure systems that support our rapid growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of our technical architecture across backend, platform, infrastructure, security, and data domains to ensure long-term scalability.
- Partner with engineering leads and product stakeholders to translate complex business objectives into robust, secure, and future-proof system designs.
- Establish architectural standards, governance models, and reusable frameworks that enhance developer velocity and maintain system consistency across the organization.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should be a seasoned professional with a strong background in distributed systems and high-growth environments. We require the following qualifications:
- 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a Staff, Principal, or Architect capacity.
- Proven success in scaling distributed systems and platform evolution within high-growth organizations.
- Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures, specifically with AWS or GCP, containerization via Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.
- Strong systems thinking skills with a focus on reliability, observability, and security.
- Experience working within regulated industries or fintech, particularly with sensitive data and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
