Architect at Wayfair

At Wayfair, we operate the largest custom e-commerce large parcel network in the United States, managing approximately 1.6 million square meters of logistics space. Our work involves navigating a highly variable ecosystem that demands flexible, reliable, and resilient systems to ensure efficiency. We are currently looking for a senior-level Architect to join our Fulfillment Optimization team in Bangalore, India. You will play a pivotal role in building the platforms that determine how customer orders are fulfilled, balancing profitability with customer satisfaction. This is a hybrid role where you will help us maintain an accurate representation of our dynamic supply chain, from the search pages at the top of the funnel to the final delivery of products.

What you'll be doing

• You will act as a technical leader, driving high-impact architectural decisions and hands-on development through the entire lifecycle of design, execution, and delivery.
• You will partner with business stakeholders to provide the transparency, data, and resources necessary for informed decision-making.
• You will maintain a sharp focus on production readiness by overseeing testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting for your team.

What you'll bring

• You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
• You possess at least 12 years of experience in senior engineering or technical lead roles, with a proven track record of mentoring 10 to 12 people.
• You have deep expertise in designing and developing scalable distributed systems, including a strong grasp of object-oriented design, modern programming languages, APIs, and microservices.
• You are skilled in data processing, data pipelines, and event-driven systems, with familiarity in open-source tools like Kafka, Kubernetes, and Java-based microservices.
• You have excellent communication skills, allowing you to collaborate effectively with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders.
• Experience with cloud technologies, particularly GCP, is a plus, as is experience in productionalizing machine learning models for real-time decision-making.
• You are proficient in English and are comfortable working within our hybrid office environment.
