At Alto, we are transforming the investment landscape by enabling everyday investors to utilize their tax-advantaged retirement funds for non-traditional assets like startups, real estate, and cryptocurrency. As a rapidly growing fintech startup founded in 2015, we are looking for an Architect to join our remote-first team and help us build the next generation of financial tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership by advising on technology selections, driving architectural decisions, and ensuring the engineering team maintains high standards.
• Design and review code to create scalable, future-proof services that align with our long-term technical strategy.
• Maintain a hands-on approach, typically dedicating 70% of your time to architectural design and 30% to active coding tasks.
• Mentor and guide engineers to foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and professional growth.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into an effective engineering roadmap.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process automation and continuous improvement within the software development lifecycle.

Must-haves

• Over 15 years of engineering experience, ideally featuring a blend of startup and large-company environments.
• Proficiency in Golang, PHP, Elixir, or Java.
• Deep expertise in microservices, third-party integrations, SSO, IAM, and multitenancy.
• Proven experience working with AWS infrastructure.
• A strong background in software architecture, design, and development.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
