Liquid Instruments is looking for a Applications Engineer Intern
We are looking for an Applications Engineer Intern to join our team at our Del Mar office in San Diego. Liquid Instruments creates software-defined test and measurement hardware that combines FPGA processing power with intuitive interfaces, and we were founded by scientists from the Australian National University and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to help researchers and engineers push the boundaries of discovery.
Responsibilities
- Gain hands-on experience working with our test and measurement hardware platforms in a laboratory setting.
- Collaborate with customers to build software measurement solutions using languages like Python, MATLAB, and LabVIEW.
- Partner with both new and existing clients to solve complex measurement challenges through hardware and software integration.
- Produce technical documentation, including instruction manuals and application notes, to support our user base.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for end-user support, ensuring that client issues are resolved accurately and efficiently.
- Identify recurring technical trends and develop long-term solutions while escalating critical issues when necessary.
- Act as the voice of the customer by sharing feedback with our internal engineering and business teams to improve our product offerings.
Must-haves
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program, ideally in Physics or Electrical Engineering, though other STEM degrees are welcome.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C/C++, or VHDL/Verilog.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Effective time management and organizational habits.
- The ability to translate specific customer needs into clear, actionable data.
