Application Developer - PHP AWS Specialist at SALIX Data Africa Limited

We are looking for a skilled Senior Application Developer to join our team in Kenya as a contractor. Our organization focuses on providing reliable healthcare technology solutions, and we need an expert who can take ownership of our existing systems. In this on-site role, you will be responsible for the stability and growth of our core platforms, ensuring that our infrastructure remains secure and efficient as we serve our patients and partners.

Key outcomes

• Take charge of maintaining and improving our current healthcare applications built with PHP.
• Oversee our MySQL and PostgreSQL databases to ensure they perform at their best while maintaining strict data security.
• Manage and refine our AWS environment, specifically utilizing EC2, RDS, S3, SES, and CloudWatch.
• Build and connect REST APIs, including integrations with external billing, shipping, and communication services.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges quickly to minimize downtime.
• Ensure all development work aligns with healthcare regulations and data protection standards.
• Maintain clear documentation for all code and processes to facilitate effective knowledge sharing.
• Operate with a high degree of independence while keeping our stakeholders informed of your progress.

Requirements

To succeed in this position, you should have extensive experience in software development and cloud administration. We require the following qualifications:

• Proven expertise in PHP development and database management using MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, RDS, S3, and CloudWatch.
• Strong proficiency in designing and integrating REST APIs.
• A solid understanding of security compliance, particularly within the healthcare sector.
• The ability to work effectively on-site in Kenya.
• Fluency in English for both technical documentation and team communication.
• The capacity to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
