API Engineer at Lever

The role

We are seeking a Senior API Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in Canada. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to design and build our API Partner Ecosystem. You will work collaboratively with product managers and designers to drive the implementation and release of major features while championing best practices for writing well-tested, organized code.

Core responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, resilient features across our entire stack, ranging from backend services under high load to complex, real-time web application components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Product and Design to scope, plan, and deliver high-impact features for our users and partners.
• Drive positive change within our engineering culture by mentoring teammates, providing peer feedback, and contributing to the evolution of our technical processes.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer in a tech company, with a proven track record of delivering high-impact software.
• Experience designing and building API management tools and APIs.
• Demonstrated exposure to mentorship or technical leadership responsibilities.
• Experience building enterprise software is preferred.
• Proficiency in our core technology stack, which includes Node, Docker, Mongo, ElasticSearch, and Redis.
• Strong communication skills in English.
