Picture a small but ambitious team in Sydney, working together on technology that could reshape how the world stores, shares, and trusts data. At Openmesh, we are building an open-source decentralized cloud and data network that combines the strengths of several leading systems into one solution, giving developers and organizations the tools to create infrastructure without relying on a handful of large corporations.
The opportunity
As an API Development Intern, you will join us for a paid two-to-twelve-week program that can also count toward your required industry experience hours. Your work will focus on helping expand the APIs that power our open data cloud and the Xnode platform, giving you direct exposure to real engineering challenges in blockchain, data management, and Web3 infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers and product owners, learning how large-scale open systems are designed and maintained while contributing to projects that support our mission of making reliable data accessible to everyone.
A day in the life
- You will design, test, and document new API endpoints that allow users to interact with our data network and infrastructure tools.
- You will work with senior team members to integrate features into Xnode Studio, helping refine how developers assemble and manage Web2 and Web3 resources.
- You will participate in team discussions, code reviews, and workshops that connect your academic knowledge to practical problem-solving in cloud, AI, and decentralized systems.
Who you are
You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field and are eager to apply your studies in a hands-on environment. You have a solid foundation in programming and an interest in areas such as API design, data systems, blockchain, or AI. Strong written and verbal communication in English is essential, and you bring curiosity, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset that will help you thrive in a fast-moving technical setting.
Why you'll love it here
You will work in a hybrid model that combines time at our George Street office in Sydney with the flexibility to work remotely on some days. We offer paid time off during your internship and the chance to take part in hackathons, mentoring sessions, and virtual conferences. Top-performing interns may also be considered for full-time roles after the program, giving you a clear pathway to continue building your career with us.
