We are building the next generation of open data and decentralized infrastructure through Openmesh, a four-year-old open-source DePIN project. Our 26-person team, mostly based in Sydney with experience from projects like Fantom, Ripple, Ethereum, Cosmos, AWS, and Aragon, is creating a P2P immutable data network and decentralized cloud that combines the strengths of AWS, IPFS, Chainlink, BitTorrent, and Oracle Cloud. Through Xnode, we provide Web2 and Web3 infrastructure as a service, enabling developers and enterprises to assemble complex systems in minutes rather than weeks. Our mission is to democratize access to reliable data and eliminate centralized control over the world's most valuable commodity.
The role
We are offering a paid API Development Internship for students pursuing a BA or MS in Computer Sciences. This hybrid position is based at our Sydney George St. office and runs for 2 to 12 weeks, with the option to fulfill your 400-hour PEP 40 industry experience requirement. You will work alongside senior engineers and product owners on real projects that advance our open data and Web3 infrastructure.
Core responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of OpenAPIs that enable immutable data access across the Openmesh network.
- Assist in building and integrating components for Xnode, our microservice-based platform that manages computational resources, storage, and data validation.
- Support the creation of infrastructure tools within Xnode Studio, helping users assemble Web2 and Web3 systems such as validator nodes, data clouds, and analytic engines.
Skills and experience
We are looking for students with a strong foundation in engineering and an interest in Web3, data systems, API design, cloud infrastructure, AI, and blockchain technologies. Experience with P2P systems and OpenAPI standards is valuable. You should be comfortable working in English and eager to apply academic knowledge to practical challenges in a fast-moving environment. Beyond technical skills, we value personal qualities, outside interests, and achievements that show how you will contribute to our team.
Compensation and benefits
This is a paid internship. You will work in a hybrid arrangement that combines time at our Sydney office with remote flexibility. You will gain direct access to our open-source technology, participate in hackathons and workshops, receive mentoring from experienced engineers, and have the chance to compete in cash prize competitions. Top performers may receive offers for full-time roles with competitive salaries.
How to apply
If you are a motivated student ready to work on meaningful projects in data, cloud, and decentralized infrastructure, we encourage you to apply. Tell us what makes you unique and how you would contribute to Openmesh.
