The opportunity

We are looking for an Android Software Engineering Manager to lead our efforts across Android Mobile, Android TV, Amazon Fire Tablets, and Amazon FireTV. In this role, you will act as both a technical leader and a people manager, helping us maintain our high-engagement applications while guiding the team through new feature development. You will serve as an internal subject matter expert for the Android platform, balancing hands-on coding and architectural design with the essential work of coaching, mentoring, and developing the talented engineers on your team.

A day in the life

• Provide technical leadership by contributing to system architecture, reviewing code, and establishing best practices for our Android codebase.
• Manage the health and performance of our applications by triaging bugs, monitoring performance regressions, and overseeing our release planning process.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including design, product, and data science, while also managing our technical relationships with platform partners like Google and Amazon.

Who you are

You are a seasoned leader with a deep technical background in building high-quality Android applications. You communicate effectively in English and have a track record of fostering growth within engineering teams. Your background includes:

• At least 8 years of software development experience, with 3 or more years in an engineering management role.
• Strong proficiency with Kotlin, Coroutines, and modern Android development tools like Jetpack Compose.
• Deep understanding of MVVM, MVI, or Clean Architecture patterns.
• Proven experience developing for TV platforms and using SQL-based tools for monitoring and alerting.
