Welcome to onX, where we are passionate about digital outdoor navigation and helping everyone find their inner adventurer. Founded in Montana, our company has grown into a team of over 300 people who love the outdoors as much as they love building industry-leading technology. We maintain an entrepreneurial spirit, valuing ownership, accountability, and the power of diverse perspectives to drive innovation. Whether you are working from a corporate office, a regional Basecamp, or a remote setup, you will find a collaborative environment where we work together to solve complex problems and create dynamic experiences for our users.
What is this role?
We are looking for a Mid-Level Growth Android Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid position that offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, provided you are comfortable collaborating within our distributed workforce model. In this role, you will be a key player in our Growth Domain, focusing on the user journey from onboarding to subscription purchasing. You will have the autonomy to design, build, and run experiments that directly impact our business metrics.
What will you do?
- Develop and implement new user-facing experiments within our Android application using Kotlin.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify growth opportunities by analyzing user behavior and design data.
- Maintain high code quality through rigorous testing, prompt pull request reviews, and the management of third-party library integrations.
What makes you a great fit?
To be successful in this role, you should have at least three years of professional software development experience, with a minimum of two years specifically focused on Android development. We value engineers who view their work as a craft and are eager to mentor others while continuing to grow themselves.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and architectural patterns like MVVM.
- Experience working with REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.
- Solid command of Git, including rebasing workflows.
- A curious mindset regarding data analysis and consumer behavior, which helps you design effective experiments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a foundation in computer science principles.
- Strong communication skills in English.
What's in it for you?
We are committed to fair and equitable compensation, offering a salary range of $105,000 to $145,000 for this position. Beyond your base salary, you will be eligible for an annual bonus of 10% based on company performance and a grant of common share options.
Our benefits package includes:
- Comprehensive medical insurance, including a no-monthly-cost plan.
- 401k retirement plan with company matching.
- Equity compensation to ensure you share in our success.
- Flexible work arrangements, including remote and hybrid options.
- Generous paid time off, including quiet weeks and floating holidays.
- Professional development opportunities to help you grow your skills.
- Access to outdoor industry perks and funds to support your active lifestyle.
