We are the Democratic National Committee’s Tech Team, a fully remote group that has operated this way since 2017. Our work centers on building data systems that strengthen Democratic programs, from grassroots fundraising to voter protection. We value clarity, curiosity, and sustainable pace while delivering high-impact analytics that help campaigns and state parties operate more effectively.
Key outcomes
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of core analytical products such as reporting tables, dashboards, and presentations that support Grassroots Fundraising, Voter Protection, and other DNC programs.
- Coach and develop the analytics team, currently two Senior Data Analysts, fostering a healthy, inclusive, and user-centric culture.
- Partner with the data Product Manager and Analytics Engineering Lead to translate strategic priorities into technically sound deliverables that meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with analytics leaders across the Democratic ecosystem to establish shared standards and methods that improve data quality for committees, campaigns, and state parties.
- Design and execute statistically sound experiments, including A/B tests, that guide decisions on email marketing, volunteer engagement, and fundraising performance.
- Translate complex data into clear narratives and actionable recommendations that directly inform program strategy and operational improvements.
Requirements
- Experience managing analytics or data professionals, including technical mentorship, professional coaching, and culture building.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL with demonstrated ability to work with large-scale data sets.
- Strong data visualization and storytelling skills, with hands-on experience using Looker (Studio or Enterprise), Tableau, or similar tools to deliver production dashboards.
- Proven track record designing and running statistically sound experiments to support strategic decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in modern cloud data environments such as Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.
- Impact-oriented mindset that frames analysis around the decisions it will inform and prioritizes asking the right questions before execution.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with ETL pipelines and data transformation tools such as dbt.
- Experience with non-profit fundraising or modern marketing measurement stacks.
- Background working with political data sources such as state voter files, election results, or engagement metrics, and familiarity with tools such as VoteBuilder, NGP VAN, or BSD.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or another programming language, or the ability to learn new languages quickly to increase impact.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, including technical validation and budget oversight.
- Prior work with major Democratic organizations including committees, campaigns, or state parties.
Compensation
The salary for this position is $120,000 on an annualized basis. Benefits include generous paid time off with federal holidays and open leave, health and dental insurance for employees and dependents with 90 percent of premiums covered by the DNC, supplementary vision plans available for purchase, up to a 5 percent employer match on the DNC 401(k) plan, and pre-tax flexible spending account benefits for employees and dependents. This is a full-time, exempt, remote role that may require weekend work and is open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.
