Octopus Energy Group has grown significantly over the last decade, evolving from a local startup into the largest energy provider in the UK and a major global player serving over 10 million customers across eight countries. We are currently establishing a brand new Analytics Platform team tasked with centralizing our analytics tools and creating a unified data modeling strategy for our international operations. As a Senior Analytics Engineer in this full-time, hybrid role, you will help build a scalable platform that allows our global teams to derive consistent insights and optimize customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain analytics models using dbt within a data mesh framework, while creating impactful charts and dashboards using modern BI tools.
- Develop robust testing and data quality frameworks using tools like dbt_expectation and elementary to ensure our data remains reliable and trustworthy.
- Establish clear data governance and documentation strategies to improve discoverability, while building efficient CI/CD pipelines for the deployment of analytics and BI models.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, autonomous environment. You should have a strong background in the following areas:
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Jinja.
- Proven experience working with dbt Core and Git.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud warehouse provider, such as Databricks, GCP, or Snowflake.
- While not required, familiarity with Python, Airflow, Kubernetes, Spark, or data modeling techniques like Kimball and OBT would be a significant advantage.
