The role

We are looking for a Senior backend engineer to join our team in a Full Time capacity. This is a Hybrid role based in India, where you will play a pivotal part in designing and maintaining the systems that power our core services. We need someone who is comfortable navigating complex technical challenges and who thrives in a collaborative environment where high-quality engineering is the standard.

Core responsibilities

• Collaborate with frontend developers to architect and build functional, robust APIs that serve our internal and external user base.
• Develop high-quality, efficient code while maintaining a strong focus on writing comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability.
• Manage and optimize scalable distributed systems within the cloud, while actively recommending technical solutions by evaluating the trade-offs between custom development and third-party alternatives.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this position, you should possess a strong foundation in computer science and engineering principles. We value candidates who bring the following qualifications to our team:

• Over 8 years of total software development experience, including 5 to 7 years specifically in backend development using Java.
• At least 5 years of professional experience working with Scala.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Proficiency in AWS cloud services and experience deploying or managing systems on Linux and Windows environments.
• Solid experience with SQL and database management.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to stakeholders and project managers clearly and simply.
• An analytical mindset with a talent for problem-solving and a collaborative approach to innovation.
• Bonus points for experience with immutable infrastructure and infrastructure automation or provisioning tools.
