Algo Developer Team Lead at Via

The role

We are seeking an Algo Developer Team Lead to join our team in Israel on a full-time, hybrid basis. This is a leadership position for an experienced engineer who is ready to guide a talented group of developers. You will be at the heart of our routing real-time systems, overseeing the evolution of our core engine and ensuring our technology performs at scale to meet the complex needs of our global users.

Core responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of backend engineers, taking ownership of both end-to-end services and core infrastructure components.
• Collaborate with our product and algorithm teams to design, refine, and optimize routing algorithms that handle large-scale, real-time data.
• Define and execute the team roadmap while mentoring engineers to foster their professional growth and promote technical excellence.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong technical foundation and a passion for solving complex optimization problems. We look for the following qualifications:

• At least 6 years of experience in backend software development using languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Deep expertise in algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization, specifically regarding routing and pathfinding.
• Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes is considered a significant advantage.
• An advanced degree, such as an M.Sc. or PhD in a quantitative field, is also a plus.
