AI Systems Engineer at Aifi

We are looking for a Senior AI Systems Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. Our company is at the forefront of the autonomous retail industry, and you will lead our Scene Understanding Team in developing advanced computer vision systems that power our store technology across hundreds of locations.

Responsibilities

• Direct the creation of systems designed to calibrate spaces equipped with hundreds of cameras.
• Convert cutting-edge research into scalable and maintainable engineering solutions.
• Oversee scene calibration technologies by managing backlogs, coordinating with stakeholders, and defining project roadmaps alongside product managers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to deploy, monitor, and maintain services within our retail environments.
• Champion high standards for software development and project management across the team.
• Provide mentorship to fellow engineers while fostering a supportive and collaborative remote culture.
• Monitor new developments in AI to identify opportunities for future project applications.

Must-haves

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline.
• At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Python.
• Strong background in designing and working with RESTful APIs, OpenAPI, gRPC, and Protobuf.
• Demonstrated experience working on AI projects, specifically those involving computer vision and geometry.
• A track record of successfully delivering software in production environments.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management capabilities.
• Proficiency in the English language.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building event-driven architectures and asynchronous processes.
• Practical knowledge of containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, specifically Azure.
• Background in multi-view stereo technologies, Structure from Motion, or SLAM.
• Experience working within a fast-paced, product-focused startup.
• Proficiency in Golang.
• Experience with MLOps, DevOps, and automated deployment pipelines.
