At Trellis Law, we serve as the premier source for state trial court information across the United States. Since our founding in 2018, we have utilized artificial intelligence and machine learning to process hundreds of millions of legal documents, turning dense data into clear, actionable insights for major law firms and corporate legal departments. We are currently seeking a Senior AI LLM Engineer for a full-time, remote position to help us expand the capabilities of our platform. You will play a vital role in our engineering team, focusing on backend services and data analytics to ensure our architecture remains scalable and efficient as we continue to grow.
Responsibilities
- Design sophisticated features that bridge the gap between natural language queries and our extensive repository of legal knowledge.
- Construct robust, high-quality data architectures that handle large-scale information flows.
- Transform unstructured data into massive, organized datasets while collaborating with our product team to bring new features to life.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of backend engineering experience, including 2 to 3 years specifically focused on building products with Large Language Models.
- Proven expertise in fine-tuning LLMs for custom, domain-specific applications.
- Experience developing or utilizing tools to evaluate LLM performance, particularly regarding extractive and abstractive summaries.
- 4 to 5 years of experience deploying custom machine learning models and managing end-to-end pipelines.
- Strong proficiency in Python, along with working knowledge of SageMaker and Bedrock.
- A solid background in machine learning, a history of mentoring other engineers, and a preference for candidates with prior startup experience.
- A BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
