The role

We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join our software engineering department on a full-time basis. This is a remote position based in Portugal, where you will report directly to the VP of Software Engineering. In this role, you will lead research and development initiatives focused on Large Language Models, working to optimize their performance and embed them into scalable solutions that enhance our customer-facing services and internal workflows.

Core responsibilities

• Explore and experiment with state-of-the-art LLMs, such as Llama, Mistral, Anthropic, and OpenAI, to identify new opportunities for automation and improved customer interactions.
• Design and implement retrieval-augmented generation approaches to connect our proprietary knowledge bases with intelligent AI assistants and chatbots.
• Collaborate closely with our product and engineering teams to refine prompt engineering techniques and integrate AI-powered features into our existing communications platform.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong technical background and a passion for emerging AI trends. We require the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven expertise in machine learning, NLP, and working with Large Language Models.
• Advanced proficiency in Node.js, including experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, RESTful APIs, and WebSockets.
• Familiarity with vector databases like Pinecone, Weaviate, or FAISS, along with a solid understanding of RAG methodologies.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
• Experience deploying models within cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP is considered a significant advantage.
