Role at a glance
AI Engineer & Researcher, full-time and on-site in the Bay Area. This lead-level role sits within our Human Data team and centers on designing and shipping the systems that power high-quality data for frontier model development.
Your impact
- Own features from front-end to back-end, including system design, debugging, and testing, while keeping the entire data-collection platform secure, scalable, and easy to use.
- Build monitoring systems that catch quality issues in large-scale data collections and create new human and synthetic data pipelines that accelerate research across capabilities, evaluation, safety, and alignment.
- Shape our technical roadmap by translating training and evaluation needs into clear priorities and by driving high-impact data projects that directly improve model performance.
What you'll need
Strong engineering fundamentals across TypeScript, Python, Rust, React, Express, and PostgreSQL are essential, as is fluency in English. You should be comfortable shipping production web applications in fast-moving environments, collaborating across research and engineering teams, and communicating complex ideas clearly and concisely. Experience linking model behavior to data quality, fine-tuning large language models, or leading cross-functional technical efforts is a plus.
Perks and compensation
We offer an annual salary range of $180,000 - $440,000 USD. Every hire receives direct technical review-no recruiters-and we keep the process fast: a short phone screen followed by four focused interviews that we aim to complete within one week.
